Privacy Statement
The most important function of the Wisconsin Law Alumni Association (WLAA) is keeping alumni connected - to the UW Law School and to each other. Consequently, WLAA compiles both public and private information of all our UW Law alumni. This notice is to inform you of how we use the information we collect and how you can limit that use.
WLAA collects information about UW Law alumni from various sources:
- Information you send us, whether through correspondence, applications, e-mail, surveys, etc.
- Information we receive from our affiliates
- Information we receive from UW-Madison's Alumni Records Office, which is a matter of public record
Our database is for the sole use of the Law School. We do not sell, rent or trade alumni information with any organization that isn't directly affiliated with us.
Who are WLAA's affiliates?
WLAA works closely with UW-Madison, the UW Foundation and the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA), the larger UW alumni network. We share information openly with these
organizations.
WAA has relationships with companies to provide certain services to alumni and to generate revenue that finances the benefits WAA provides to alumni and students. Before entering into a partnership with these companies, WAA considers their practices regarding the use of customer information. These companies communicate directly with alumni to market the products and services that they vend for WAA. For that purpose, the WAA provides them a list of names and addresses, with a detailed contract governing the list's use. What kind of electronic information does WLAA collect?
When a user logs on to our Web site, www.wisconsinlawalumni.com, WLAA's Web server automatically recognizes only the consumer's domain name (where possible), not the e-mail address.
WLAA maintains a list of e-mail addresses so that we may keep interested alumni informed about WLAA and Law School events, both in Madison and in their areas.
WLAA does not sell, or trade e-mail addresses or other electronic alumni information with any other organization for any reason.
